DDamron: <~~~~~ Palm Desert, California
DDamron: Thank You. I am a Rhoades Relative
DDamron: My Great Grandmother was Ella Rhoades Soapes
DDamron: My family was from the Pana, Danville, Illinois area.
DDamron: Okay, Nicholas Rhodes born in Kentucky. Date unknown. Married Arebell French Rhodes, who was born in Indiana. They had Daniel R. Rhodes, born 30 Dec 1844 in Indiana
DDamron: Don't know where, but am guessing around 1820 for both Nicholas & Arebell.
DDamron: Nicholas was a Rhodes, Arebell his wife (her last name was French)
DDamron: We do know that Daniel R. Rhodes had 4 girls, Ella, Ethyl, Spray, and Leeta.
DDamron: All four born in Illinois
DDamron: Our Daniel R. Rhodes died 22 Jan 1917 in Pena, Illinois.
DDamron: I have his death certificate.
DDamron: Have done that already. That's how you found me.
DDamron: no
DDamron: How did it help you Suzy?
DDamron: Will give it a try sometime.
DDamron: Absolutely, but NARA is better if you are near one.
DDamron: A Federal Repository with Census', Immigration Records, etc.
DDamron: They have one in Chicago, Kansas City, Boston, Atlanta, L.A. (that's mine) Seattle, San Francisco, Fort Worth, Denver, and NY
DDamron: Worth the trip to Ft. Worth
DDamron: We have one in Laguna Nigel. That's a little more than an hours drive from our desert.
DDamron: I have found that visiting the town where family lived and going to the local library is extremely beneficial
DDamron: Daniel R. Rhodes had the four daughters, so the Rhodes line stopped in 1959.
DDamron: Is this a free service?
DDamron: Thank You
DDamron: I'll try it first.
DDamron: I did that this summer on the Damron side of the family and met two distant cousins and lots of very helpful individuals.
DDamron: Take your pliers and start pulling. My grandfather gave us NO information and now he's gone.
DDamron: You've been doing this for awhile.
DDamron: Which side is the Rhodes side? Mother or Father?
DDamron: Nicholas Rhodes was born in Kentucky. That is my ggg grandfather.
